The Espy House is a mixed-use development designed to foster Savannah’s growing creative community both socially and economically by acting as a catalyst for interaction and collaboration. Its café, exhibition space and pop-up shops not only serve as a platform for local talent to formally present their work to the public, but also as a casual “third-place” where peers connect. To further cultivate a sense of community the building also includes 15 efficiency apartments and a communal workspace for its residence. Like Savannah’s many artists, designers, makers and innovators The Espy House is a series of varied parts. In isolation their success is limited, however, when united as a whole (building or network) greater things are possible.
